Our Story: Patrick's Legacy
Willo Beach Sanctuary was created in February 2021 in honor of Patrick, a three-legged survivor who taught us that healing is always possible.
Patrick was found frozen to the pavement in 2014. Thanks to Lakewood Animal Control & Shelter and the incredible volunteers at CCLAS, he survived. Our dear friend Kate adopted him and spent years teaching him how to live again—how to walk on three legs, how to trust, how to be loved.
When Kate became ill, we fostered Patrick. When she passed away in August 2020, we promised to care for him forever. To honor that promise—and Kate's belief in our work—we made our volunteer rescue efforts official: Willo Beach Sanctuary.
Patrick lived with us for five years, showing every scared cat who came through our doors what resilience looks like. He showed them that being different—three legs, one ear—didn't mean being less worthy of love.
Patrick passed away in November 2025, but his legacy continues. Every cat we rescue, every feral we trap and return, every senior we care for—they're all living proof of Patrick's message: healing is always possible.
We honor Patrick and Kate every single day by continuing the work they believed in. Their love made this sanctuary possible. Their legacy keeps it going.
What We Do
Community Cat Rescue
We rescue and provide permanent homes for cats in need, particularly those from feral colonies and street situations. Each cat receives whatever care they need for the rest of their lives.
TNR Services
We trap, neuter/spay, vaccinate, and return community cats to their colonies, preventing overpopulation and suffering while respecting their independent nature.
Education & Advocacy
We teach our community about compassionate cat care, the importance of rescue work, and how to coexist peacefully with community cats.
The Cats We Care For
We currently provide permanent homes and care for rescue cats. Many came from feral colonies or the streets. Each one has a story of survival and resilience.
From scared ferals learning to trust, to playful kittens discovering what it means to be loved, to gentle seniors living out their final days in comfort—every cat deserves safety, care, and a home where they're truly seen.
